Mišancija is a mixture of self-grown plants typical of Dalmatia; wild garlic, keeled garlic, wild Swiss chard, cabbage sprouts, borecole, sow thistle, bristly hawkbit, hawkweed oxtongue, bitter dock, ramsons, wild leek… Traditionally it is prepared cooked and we packed it with a shrimp soup.
Ingredients
500 g (17.6 oz) mišancija mix
80 g (2.8 oz) rice
120 g (4.2 oz) cleaned shrimps
salt, pepper
100 ml (3.4 fl oz) whipped cream
Preparation
Wash the herbs well and cook them in a wide pan in some salted boiling water (about 700 ml/23.6 fl oz).
When soft, remove from liquid and preserve the liquid part. Use a knife to chop the mix on a board, and cook the rice in the water you preserved from cooking mišancija.
When rice is nearly cooked, add chopped herbs, shrimps, salt, pepper and cream. Boil briefly.
Serving
Serve the soup with a few drops of olive oil and toasted bread.
