It is prepared along the Adriatic coast and on the respective islands. Dried figs are stuck together by herb rakia (Travarica) and white wine, and aromatised with cinnamon.
Ingredients
400 g (14 oz) dried figs
100 g (3.5 oz) raisins
50 ml (1.7 fl oz) herb rakia (Travarica) or Lozovača (grape rakia)
150 ml (5.1 fl oz) white wine Malvazija
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preparation
Remove stems from the figs and cut them into quarters. Put them into blender, add raisins, rakia, wine and cinnamon. Blend thoroughly. To get a fine structure of the mixture use the hand blender.
Divide into eight portions and shape cones with wet hands. Place each on fig or laurel leaves and leave 15-20 days to dry. The process can be speeded up by drying them for an hour in the oven at 60°C (140°F).
Serving
Cut the fig cones into slices and serve with homemade rakia (rakija).
