And so for the first time at Kuhaona, in cooperation with the travel agency Tureta travel , on 18 February 2015 we have welcomed our guests from Belgium. They have experienced a culinary workshop designed specially for them, and they were preparing Croatian meals.
Their culinary journey at Kuhaona started with a short visual introduction into various gastronomic offers of Croatian regions. Individual and team preparation of meals under the guidance of chef Berislav Lacković followed after that. The menu consisted of an appetizer, main course and dessert, showing the diversity of the continental and coastal Croatian cuisine.
Satrica and kulen were tasted first, combined with domestic corn bread, pork lard spread, bacon and plum brandy. The only man in the group, Eric, particularly liked kulen and plum brandy ;). The duck was already roasting so that it could be ready for tasting, so we all rolled up our sleeves and got down to work. With Sol and Eva, Berislav prepared a brodetto from smoked octopus and potato polenta, and Karmela was helping Camilla and Eric to make soparnik and mlinci. The layers of Bregovska pie were stacked in the end.
Even our “rusty” English could not stop us from talking about food, but also about the business aspect of their culinary story, entitled TheChefsCut. This socializing ended with tasting of the prepared meals, in a relaxed atmosphere, with fine wine, malvasia and pinot noir, and the testimonial about their kuhaona experience is best shown in the statements of our Belgian guests:
“I had an amazing experience at Kuhaona workshop. I learned a lot, the chef was very knowledgeable and could answer every query I had. Thank you all so much for their lovely, warm welcome to Zagreb. I hope to visit soon again and will definitely recommend this workshop in the future.” (Sol)
“Thank you so much for your time, we enjoyed every minute and dishes. A lot of hospitality, tasteful and very friendly. Hope to be in touch soon.” (Eva)
“Overall, really enjoyed it. Thanks.” (Camila)
“Amazing experience, warmest people will give you an exquisite and finest opportunity to cook the best Croatian dishes. Thank you again.” (Eric)
These commendations really mean a lot, we also received some helpful suggestions on improvements, and in the future there is also a possibility of joint business cooperation. All in all – job well done. 🙂
