An interesting combination of fruit flavours closed in a jar. Trust me, it will not stay there for very long. As a bread spread, ice-cream topping, pancake stuffing or in preparation of cakes. Enjoy!
Ingredients
1 kg (2.20 lb) melons
500 g (17.5 oz) apples
1 lemon
750 g (26 oz) sugar
Preparation
Clean, wash and cube the melons and the apples. Sprinkle the apple additionally with lemon juice so it does not change colour due to air exposure.
Put them in a deep, wide pan, add sugar and cook until it thickens.
Pour the jam in hot jars (previously heated to 100°C/212°F for 30 minutes) and close well. Turn the jars upside down for about 5 minutes, and then turn them back so the jam cools gradually.
Serving
Serve for breakfast as bread spread, as pancake stuffing, for cakes, or next to vanilla ice-cream.
Preparation time
90 minutes
